Giving back to this paw-some charity

At Asteron Life, we think it’s important to support our local community. With this year proving so tough for non-profits trying to raise funds for great causes, we asked the fantastic followers of our Facebook page to nominate a Kiwi charity which could benefit from a bit of extra support.

The messages flooded in, with more than 500 suggestions made in just a week! After a random draw, the Ruakaka Dog Rescue was chosen as the charity of choice thanks to a nomination by Lisa Treadwell. We were delighted to donate $500 to them in Lisa’s name.

More than just puppy love

It turns out that Lisa has a very special connection with Ruakaka Dog Rescue, having adopted one of the family’s beloved dogs – a very cute pooch named Simba – from the charity. As Lisa says, Simba is a true rescue dog who was found abandoned and in poor condition near Whangarei. After being cared for by the Dog Rescue and then finding a forever home with Lisa and her family, he’s absolutely thriving today!

The work of Ruakaka Dog Rescue

We were lucky enough to hear from Michelle at Ruakaka Dog Rescue about how they will be putting the funds to very good use. “It costs over $500 to care for each puppy, with costs to immunise, microchip, register and de-sex them. Then, there’s also ongoing veterinary bills to pay for. With all of our funding dependent on community support, we greatly appreciate this donation by Asteron Life.”
